Join us on Saturday, June 5 for the Slow Down Exhibit Special Event: Meet the Explorer, Claire Flynn!

What do Sir Ernest Shackleton, Ingrid Christensen and LICM’s own Claire Flynn have in common? Curiosity, focus and a desire to learn about the world around them are traits these three Antarctic explorers share.

Flynn, LICM’s STEM Initiatives Program Director, was selected as a Lindblad Expeditions and National Geographic Grosvenor Teacher Fellow.  She had the opportunity to participate in a three-week expedition to the Falkland Islands, South Georgia, and Antarctica in November 2019.

At this special after-hours event designed for visitors 16 years of age and older, Claire will take you on her journey, introducing the environments and wildlife of each of these unique destinations. You will also have the opportunity to view expedition gear, tools and journals.

This event is free, but requires pre-registration.

If you are able, we hope you will consider making a contribution for our STEM Program Initiatives.

All New York State health protocols will be followed at this event.

For families with younger children, we encourage you to visit us during regular museum hours to enjoy the Slow Down…Explore exhibit.
